Welcome to the Team Deimante!

Deimante Keturakyte has joined 2020 Architects as a Part II Architectural Assistant!

Deimante has recently having completed her Master of Architecture at Queen’s University Belfast, graduating with Distinction. Throughout her studies, she developed a strong interest in conservation and adaptive reuse, particularly through working with listed and historically significant buildings. Her final thesis focused on the Grade B+ listed Henry Garrett Building at Stranmillis University College, where she explored how the existing structure could be retained and adapted for horticulture, making and community learning. The project involved carefully considering the existing fabric, proportions and character of the building, alongside heritage policy, listed building consent and the relationship between old and new interventions.

She’s particularly interested in how historic buildings can be adapted without losing the qualities that make them distinctive. Deimante enjoys exploring existing details, materials and traces of previous use, and using these as a starting point for new design rather than treating conservation as simply preserving a building unchanged.
Outside of architecture, that creative interest continues through trail/long distance  running and spending as much time outdoors as possible.
